During our recent filming trip into the Northern Cape, we drove some fantastic passes, both big and small. This rugged part of South Africa has astonishingly interesting history and we probe into the story behind Studer's Pass - a big altitude gaining pass that climbs incessantly for over 22 km from near Garies to the plateau region near Paulshoek. It's a gravel rider's heaven with stunning scenery, lots of corners and no farm gates.
The pass dates back to the depression years where work was specifically created by government to employ locals. Being such a long pass, we produced a double video set, which can be watched via the link below, which includes our usual Thursday news release.
