Wellllll............... its the freak show! I dont know why I wrote that, but that song went through my mind. Its always interesting meeting up with people from the net - you never know whatcha gonna git.

Well.... in this lucky packet, we got a lot of nice people actually. And we had a blast. Believe it or not after my whining about being on time, I was 9 minutes late. The last one to arrive. It was fantastic to put names to face, and to put internet perceptions aside for reality.

We had a good ride today, we stopped a lot for smoke breaks and to shoot the shit and we finally ended up at the GS meeting.   NOT.

Heinekins didnt want to, so he took us to another place, called a Bush Pub, which was baie lekker.

I dont have pics, but I will say today was fooking windy, several of us had a few "moments" where we could have caked it, and we all made it safely there. Nice riding with you guys, thanks for the good time

I am sure they will chip in with pics and stories. Kewl!

The six Dustkateers

On the way there I met with Accton and we arrived at the Total Filling station together and refuelled. We then went in search of the Vitgins but saw none, at least I saw two young girls but as to whether they were active ? Who knows? Anyway we decided to just hang out in the car park and soon were joined by Kilersa, Sotkop and Rudeasy.

It was two pm and still no sign of the star who arrived a Lito late.
As we stood chatting and getting to know each other a strong gust of wind got hold of the Black Beast and it went over! Lito visibly whitened but fortunately the crashbars took the punishment and we were off

towards the Malanshoogte road with me in the lead. From there we did the Spes Bona road as promised. Lito took the lead and was doing the what comes naturally and Accton passed me and I misunderstood his handsign. This resulted in him going straight on a road with tha notice ?Private Road? I set after him and found him negotiating terms with a domestic dog.
Back at the junction everyone had stopped for a smoke and Lito returned and gave us a lito demo on stliding techniques.

We joined the tarred road again and made off for Klipheuwel and Slent road by the windmills towards AgterPerdeberg. We were overtaken by a red roadbike racing ... and suddenly stopping short as the tar became gravel and we sailed on by..

We stopped

and sucked

and sucked....

and smoked

and chatted

and sucked

and eventually drank some oros.

not satisfied we stopped at a bush pub

and chatted. That is Rudeasy, Kilersa, Sotkop, Lito and Accton (L to R).
Some of us went on a route march

while one of us got stuck upto the axle in sand.

Sweet boys!
A GS free ride, that must be a first.

They were all talking about riding while you were out doing it.

Mango..

NO! I just parked on the tar at the meetup point, and the bike on the sidestand, and the wind was so hard it blew my bike !BANG!!!!! on the tar ground.

It was unreal. I have (I have discovered), slightly bent footpeg - and its freken ROBUST on a 950..., a slightly bent mirror stalk - the solid steel bent!!!!, and the following with steel grazes on it -

top of crashbar
bottom of crashbar
foot peg
end of my handlebar
handguards
mirror
break lever
rear footpeg for pillion
rear pannier brackets

   EINA

and it wasnt so easy at some stages, i nearly came off twice (handlebars ripped amppper out of my hands from deep corrugations at a low speed of 85 - which is where my KTM sucks to be honest) and Droffarc nearly toasted it too, at the same speed. If he had gone down, maybe SOT would have gone down and me too. It was lelik, and close.

The rest? ja - baie rustig and relaxing - except for wind. Hein tells me that he was wide open throttle and could only get 125km/h going into the wind on a small uphill. THATS HECTIC!!!!!!

oh, and doing it broadside into this kind of wind at 145 on the dirt (i was doing some fun stuff), wasnt relaxing  :D
