Looks like a couple of riders have bailed the stage and taken the high road, including BB after going back to Alexander Bay.

Martin Lourens has been giving us feedback every day on how his race is going. On the first two days he had issues with bad fuel which buggered up his FI sytem on the WR450 but the last two stages he got it sorted and he's been doing some low flying.

He recons he's have the jol of his life and says the route and organizing is simply outstanding this year. He's totally in his element with the whole experience.
Present bikes: BETA 300RR, KTM 690, Yamaha WR250F

If you're dumb you gotta be tough !!!

Just got word from a friend in Springbok that someone rode into a water filled quarry today - bike and all!  Rider is apparently fine, and that's all I know.

Dit lyk of die marshal die manne vanaf Jean-Marcel die "grootpad" laat ry omdat hulle dit nie gaan maak. (Dit sluit Neil in. :'(  )

Marcell Breytenbach (#116) had an off earlier today. Foot apparently injured and  been attended to by medics. His nav tower with nav equipment broke in the fall leaving him a bit stuck. He decided to soldier on towards bivy tonight along main roads, taking max penalty for doing so.

Geoff Paterson was the swimmer. Chris Ogden lent him his sat phone. He said that he thought he was going to drown. A very sharp corner caught him. Look up where his last tracker spot is there is a tiny dam on the outside curve.

Imagine having a near drowning experience on a desert race. That's one for the bar!

Shit, no 25 Ralf Basler is making an epic mistake.

He was short coursed and missed the Eksteenfontein turnoff. He would have gotten to Eksteenfontein the long way around but he's now attempting to go back up part of the race track and that is not good gravel.

What now happens to the guys that got short coursed?  Just penalties?

No finishers medal.

But can ride to the finish.

Still an epic achievement.

Thanks Kamanya.

This is tough!  Newfound respect for all these guys, and those boys in the front are flippen ysters.

Just zoomed in to where Jan is currently riding.  Must be hectic doing that in the dark!

The road there is not so bad until it crisscrosses or runs down the riverbed. There's sand and the odd big rock in there too. Being the last guy through with all the sand churned up is not going to be fun.

Once at the corner by the river the road is fine.

Everything to play for between 1st and 2nd and 3rd-5th. This is the closest Amageza ever!

(And perhaps the first where we've had a proper results flow on time every day. Big congrats on finally getting that part sorted!!)
