So our plans for the weekend were cancelled....
I wont tell you why because .....

So having our morning coffee I noticed some mist rain outside.
Now I've been keen to show Lizzanne the Joubertina loop for some time, but she can't handle the heat.
So I checked the weather and it said Joubetina would only reach 22deg.

Luckily it doesn't take much to convince  her to go on a bike ride, even though it was raining in PE.
so we got ready and as we left the rain came down with vengeance.

Once again I was impressed, there was no complaint or hesitation. we put on the rain suits and left PE, taking the scenic route out and heading to the "Sweaty Dutchman" in Kareedouw for a morning coffee.

Then we continued to Joubertina for breakfast at "Die Kraaitjie"
Lizanne loved the flowers around there

After that we started the Joubertina loop.
the views are stunning, this is about the 5th time I've done it and every time has been special.

then Lunch at Joubertina again

Jalapeno Balls was her choice... and she loved them.

So, I apparently wasn't ready to go home yet...

So I asked her if she's ever done anything irresponsible..
Apparently she has, often. LOL. (that was a rhetorical question anyway)

well we expected to go home that afternoon, so had nothing with us...
But I mentioned I'd like to sleep over and take her through Prince Alfred pass on Sunday and see some of the Knysna forest.

Well, her eyes lit up as she smiled and said "Yes, let's do that" so off we rode

Not knowing where we'd sleep, we thought we'd ride and see, maybe stop at Uniondale to buy some toiletries.

Then we passed this place, phoned, and stayed the night.
this is on the border of the eastern and western Cape, a couple left Stellenbosch to live here and run the hotel.
Guys, please support this place, it's great here and very biker friendly.

It had a shop with quite a few interesting items
The lady was in her element,  :ImaPoser:

So we left around 7h30 the next morning and headed to Avontuur.
The Prince Alfred's pass is another Gem around here.
It's great having a pillion taking the in ride shots

We road up to this lookout point. Apparently this is where they came to check for fires in the district.
Superb views of the area

Then a stop to view the "Big Tree"

Then on to "Kom se Pad"
I love this road, ferns and greenery in abundance. You are forced to ride slowly by the pure beauty surrounding you, you just don't want to miss anything. I love having a pillion who enjoys it as much as me.

Then on to Knysna for a Mug N Bean breakfast.
We walked around the shops a bit before heading to Natures Valley

Fortunately blocked roads don't apply to motorbikes.

A guy just can't get any privacy around here

The obligatory Selfy

After that we rode the Bloukrans pass which has been closed for quite a few years, but once again, not a problem for motorbikes.
This is another beautiful pass, way better then the N2 toll road.

Batteries had got a bit flat by now, but at least I have some GoPro footage

Then a quick coffee stop at Storms river mouth where we saw this beautiful silver KTM950 in immaculate condition.
It made me miss my old bike.

All in all a stunning impromptu weekend.

Thanks for joining and been such a great pillion Lizanne.  :ricky::ricky: :ricky: :ricky:
