Probably all went via Aus, so yes NZ itself is relatively small for them, but joint launch/press, training and logistics with Aus market make good economic sense.
NZ actually got theirs before Aus.
Go figure.

The 660Z was built in Italy iirc.
The 660Z was also built in France. The engine was from Italy.

Found this yesterday at mall here in Somerset which is probably the only T7 in SA- did not get his name but the owner from Uk shipped it to Kenya and rode it down to CT and it went like a dream he said. Bike was due for first service and he had it done in Bloem at Yamaha-. just used MT07 filters. My other photo unfortunately failed which was a nice sideways view. Only due in June they say- eish Yamaha

Don't hold you breath for June. There are two units expected in June for homologation but the first shipment is only only expected towards the end of the year.

The 790 is definitely a much better dynamic machine, where suspension and electronics and more power results in a bike that's going to be more of an exciting ride than the Yamaha.

It does seem like the Yamaha, like they've always been, is a proper do-it-all-with-unexpected-ease type of motorcycle.

Danie, I agree these are 2 different bikes, Hopefully the price will reflect these differences when it finally reaches SA. One would think there would be a fair difference in price for the very reasons you mention.
When in doubt...grab throttle!!!

It seems as if they can't manufacture the T7 fast enough for the demand?..... By the time we get them here, one can probably get a pre-owned Africa Twin for a better price..... :patch:...... just thinking.

If you hang on a month or two you will get a second hand 790 at a similar price if you dont mind the trouble that comes with it.  :imaposer: :pot:
