Geesh, looks like the T7 is a winner for Yamaha. And with the rest of the world buying everything in sight, it prolly means we'll wait even longer here at the Antarctic end of Africa.

Look on the bright side: by the time we get the T7, all "first edition issues" should be sorted out. Like, no substandard forks as with the AT...

I've found out that the SA production has moved from France to the Japanese factory. This has the benefit in that Japan has a much higher production capacity which in turn means that the SA shipment is still on track for the last quarter of the year.

I reckon Yamaha regret not building it in Japan from the get go as well ? Demand out stripped supply.

You guys make it sound like we should be glad it gets here in the last 1/4?
How much more expensive will the bike be now, versus a batch we should have received pre-covid19 when the ZAR was stronger?
Please dont paint the "ja but it is still cheaper  compared to the other bikes in the segment" picture, even a toddler can smell that BS.

Surely the exchange rate is not only applicable on Yamahas? :eek7:

And it is still cheaper than the other bikes in the same segment  :deal:

Rand/dollar effect the price by R22k round about...

11 x 15 = R165
11 x 17 = R187

I heard from a reliable source that the first two off the Japanese production line ( 000001 & 000002 ) will be arriving in SA within the next couple of weeks. 000001 will be going into Yamaha SA's collection and 000002 will be sent for homologation. First shipment due in August! Don't quote me on this though !  :peepwall:

Very interested to see what it's going to be priced at. Last of the MT07 Tracers were selling at 127k but the rand has probably screwed our hopes that it would be priced well below the 790

Yes.
Also, It was Kawasaki`s decision to divert the 1st South African batch of T7 Yamahas to New Zealand.

Who knows why that was done, Yamaha had no idea about covid19 and a weaker Rand. Anyway they got the amounts they will be selling totally wrong. Should have built them in Japan as well right from the start.
