Hi Guys,

I have heard a few guys say not to use the DNA or similar filter for off road use. I know Le Cap has recently rebuilt two KLR engines that were damaged due to dust ingestion fro these types of filters. Was wondering if others have also had this issue?

I got my bike with a DNA filter fitted and have used it off road a lot and I'm sure it was used like that a lot before I got the bike, without knowing it might be an issue.

I have been told it is difficult to get the original foam filter and plastic body, anyone have one laying around?

I was also thinking to just get a thin, say 5mm, piece of foam to place over the oval air intake and then place the DNA filter over it, so air and dust will need to pass the well oiled DNA and foam filter before it can enter the engine. would this work as a substitute to the original. Will obviously loose the tiny bit of performance gain, but what the hec.

regards
