it would be wonderful if KTM could release a software upgrade for the 1190 to reduce the power to say 140kW and increase the torque commensurately

The low end torque of the 1290 is simply wonderful - RAD have always given me a 1190 when my 1290 has been in for a service and riding the two bikes properly directly after each other, does show how superior the 1290 motor is - their new uprated 1090 and 1290 should make everybody happy

The low end torque could be better....But, riding it in offroad mode kind of fixes this. It definitely has a fatter bottomw end in offroad mode, but then you do lose a bit of the fizz up top.   I actually quite like it though.

every time I get excited about concidering a new/different bike this will sort me out quickest. But let me try get over that.

Die 1190s is mos tubeless. :deal:

And from a Safety point of view, go for training. Not everyone can handle 150 freakin horsepower  :imaposer:   :imaposer:

ek het destyds hulle redelik opgelees en gevolg, maar toe klink dit soos n bike vol issues.
nou is ek al hoe meer lus vir iets anders en toe lees ek julle thread oor watse issues is daar op 1190....daar sien ek toe nou nie veel behalwe vir klomp strond pratery. so nou begin my brein weer werk en planne maak.
Dooie visse gaan saam met die stroom...

Seems like it to me.  The offroad mode seems like a fatter low end and thins out at the top, where the 150hp modes really start taking off at that point.

The KTM will make you smile and you will love it.

One thing that you need to change a bit is your riding style imo as the GS's low down torque is available from very low rpms while the KTM likes to be revved and is happier at a bit higher rpms. But then while its revving the grin starts becoming wider and wider.

Just make sure of the airfilter and services done on the specific bike and about the dust problem. The first 1190's have an extended year warrantee if im recalling correctly.

You saw nothing on the dynojet that there was extra newtons available in offroad mode?

I thought its to godod to be true!

I can`t remember on which thread it was but a Bmw guy said that the 1190AAAAR does not have low down torque :spitcoffee:. I definately agree with you that the 1290 has more torque than the 1190AAAAAR but keep in mind it is not like the 1190AAAAAR has nothing down there!!! : What would the difference be at say 2500rpm...12newtons?

Seems like it to me.  The offroad mode seems like a fatter low end and thins out at the top, where the 150hp modes really start taking off at that point.

according to the dynos I have, the off road mode reduces both power and torque - below a variety of dynos

Yeah. I don't doubt that. But the bike definitely feels happier to sit at low RPM in offroad mode.  Maybe that makes it feel more torquey, I dunno.

yes, it's the same as the 1190 IIRC - it has offroad for MTC/ABS, Damping and Drive mode

Jou volgende probleem gaan tyres wees.
As jy daai 150hp elke moment gaan gebruik, gaan jy 2500km sien op n agter tyre.
My rekord was 800km en toe mos ek tyre afgooi.

Ek hou vd GS. Wil bitter graag een he. Ry lekker, handle lekker, ek dink dis n bevange bike.
Het al 2 keer een gaan ry. Hy trek net nie soos die 1190 nie en klaar. Enigste rede hoekom ek nog nie n GS LC gekoop het nie.

As jy 150hp gewoond is, voel enige ding minder as dit soos n scooter wat jy ry.

Gister my 1290 GT rond gejaag heeldag lank, asemrowende power. Jy kan nie 100% throttles gooi nie, met ons see lug tel hy voorwiel op tot in 4de rat under acceleration

KTM se twins deesdae maak insane krag. Ek kan nie wag vd 1290R nie  :biggrin:   :biggrin:
Ek kyk nie na Power op papier nie, gaan ry n Twin, daai 150hp voel soos 250hp vir my  :laughing4:

There is an Adventure and an R. Or adventure and adventure R?

Both have the same ride modes and electronics?
Both have TPMS and tubeless wheels?
The soft rims issue is primarily an issue on the front or on the rear as well? What does the exel upgrade cost roughly?
