I asked a well known KTM dealer what it'll cost to do a major service and I was quoted R6000-R7000.  Not sure what a 10,000km service entails but if you can throw a spanner it's not hard to do yourself.

Mine was around R3500-R4000 including shims. And I have an aftermarket kit and crash bars so that added extra labour

I strip the panels, airbox exct before I take it for the service. Have the valve clearances checked on this service and do the next one yourself. Really  a easy bike to work on Should not cost more than R2500.

Just had my 690 serviced at RAD Moto . Valve clearance, greased all bearings, all oil filters and screens, fuel filters, clean air filter, check over, and fault finding my starting problem. Came to R3800 including the extra hours to fault find my starting issue. Not that bad all considering.

I did an oil service on my bike yesterday. Dead simple and it cost me 650 for the filter kit and 200 for oil. I won't pay anyone to do it again

I agree,

I dont know what the big deal is about servicing your own bike.  Yeah sure if you suspect something is wrong that is above your pay grade then yes take it in to KTM or a bike shop but to service it every time at KTM just for the stamp in your service booklet..... I don't know about that one.  What do you think, will the FSH carrot get you a better price one day when selling it again?

DIY can be cheaper and quite rewarding if you ensure you service and check all the checks on the service schedule.  Just changing oil and oil filter could lead to problem later down the line.
