I am planning a trip with my son and family from Nieu Bethesda to Jeffreys via Steylerville on backroads. (via Sondagsrivier to Jansenville and Pienaarspoort to Steytlerville)
We are towing the bikes to NB from JHB. He is on a KTM 690 and I on a 990.
Is the road via Patensie doable in a day? From past threads it sounds like it is really remote. The rest of the family can follow us with a 4x4, but if it is too rough the rest won't enjoy it. I will then rather send them via tar and meet up in Jeffreys, or, we can all take is easy to Steytlerville and camp there or maybe bushcamp somewhere along the way next to a river.
It looks like the alternate route is via Baviaans (probably too crowded this time of the year) or Steylerville via Utenhage?
I will appreciate your comments and ideas.
