Google Earth is a great planning tool but often when you get there you find that the path is a lot steeper than you ever imagined. A few days ago I went riding with a very old WFO enduro mate Professor Pete Burnett. He told me how to make it look much more like what you are going to find. He does head up a film department after all!

The secret is: Google Earth/tools/options/terrain, elevation exaggeration - try the value "3" rather than the default "1."
