I did not plan to do this ride because of other commitments, but Friday around 20h00, things turned out for the better.

A quick check on the bike ended up not being so quick, since I was stuck with a flat battery, which is not a big issue, but then realised that my battery charger is on the boat, about 140Kmâ??s away. So, first option, jump start and went for a 10Km ride, but did not help. Second option, phone a friend! I collected a battery charger from a friend and by 24h00 all was set.

I picked up XXX at 08h00 and off to Malmesbury where we would pick up Rassie GS800 and three others. It was a relatively slow and cold ride to Malmesbury. Thick mist allowed for about 50m visibility and freezing body parts.
It went better from Malmesbury and the six of us clocked in for registration at Moorreesburg show grounds at 09h30. There were 2 routes, one for DS bikes and one for off-road. I took exactly 3 photos with my camera before the battery died on me. Looks like I had a â??thingâ? for batteries.

We also met a new dog, Antonw. Nice meeting you and may we cross paths often.

Pictures courtesy of Rassie GS800, by now our own professional photographer.

About 30 odd DS bikes

Before we were allowed to start, a compulsory tug of war was required.

The preparation of the musclemen

The inevitable result

We lost!!

Saddle up

The organizer led the way and the first section was mostly private roads in and around the farms towards Bridgetown. The pace was very slow and felt more like a guided tour.

First regroup

I think the organiser detected a bit of restlessness at the regroup and instructed that those that want to push on, was more than welcome to do so.  :ricky:  and so we did.

We regrouped at Moorreesburg show grounds and immediately left for Malmesbury to catch the second half of the rugby. The rugby was an anti climax and we left for the â??Ploegdagâ? that was held between Malmesbury and Durbanville. XXX and Antonw left us to do our own â??ploegingâ?.  There were some interesting tractors in action.

The farmers are a friendly bunch and one even took his tractor and plough to the bar for Rassie GS800 and his wife to sit on.     (Although I think he just got tired of walking to the bar)

A nice relaxing day was had by all. The day was just longer for some than others

And bikes and tractors were not the only equipment on display.

Total Distance 290Km and my first attempt at a ride report.

Malgat, they were not all WD's.
I only know of four, Rassie GS800, Antonw, XXX, myself and some of our "tegnologies gestremde vriende" :)
