Bike looks good man.

If you make those side panels white you'll almost have a 1090R clone haha  :thumleft:
I actually don't like the white of the new R models that much. On looks the R models with the solid colours looks much nicer to me. Until you mentioned it now and I checked, I did not realize the 1090 had a black tank cover.
I love the 1290 colours in the attached pic 1
and then my inspiration comes actually from the bike in pic 2 & 3. except that I have no intention of changing to a twin light setup like that.

Curious about feedback on that upgraded suspension!

Sorry, thought I did make that update.

Well, on the first ride my phone fell out of my pocket, forgot to take a pic of the screen but it was properly fubar. Almost went through some guys window. I got a bit carried away being reunited with my mistress and all! I am also sure Samsung regretted their policy of one free repair, one corner of the screen was actually curled over from impact. Its sorted now though, free :)

Anyhow, I don't have time for a nice day trip where I would really like to feel the suspension on normal gravel, ruts and washouts. the real test for me is it has to be able to do all. Not simply be set to stiff as possible and you end up with a harsh ride.

So, from hitting speedbumps in town at speed and half an hour on the local MX track (or quary gat, watookal die regte naam) it is awesome! It feels considerably stiffer, and I haven't played with settings yet, but its stiff without being harsh. Super happy! The time on the jumps was also awesome, not that I can jump much but I am happy! Philip who has a lot more Enduro 2T experience and ride a 950 also rode a little and also thought its stiff but in a good way.

I will take a vid next time we go there again, I am using this half hour blasts as prep for getting fit for a big trip coming up. half an hour and I was sweating, back and forearms aching, so I need to get bike fit again, but down with flue now and some other family commitments.

Presume no rear tire rub marks on under tray  ?

How many turns in on pre load without luggage ?

don't know and don't know yet. Settings is still as I received the shocks from Superfoxi.
Still need to go put the time in to reset everything to normal and test. Its cold here and I just had a very bad cold. Its less than 3 weeks to our big trip, so I really need to put time in. Not only to sort the bike (its still untested after all the work I put in) but also to get myself riding fit.

Ii started a thread on general failure warning I am getting, any ideas what it could be?

http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=212708.0

I still have time to replace the battery, but don't really want to do that if there was no need. This morning with cold start it struggled to swing, and the clicked like a flat battery, then tried again and it started normal. is this symptoms of the weak 2013 starter or actually a flat battery?
I took a video. will see if I can post the link

Different question. I also got low oil pressure warning this morning. Anyone had that caused by battery?

guess I will go check oil level first now, but I am worried that it could be that I have the crappy oil filter with no bypass. I am also concidering going for a 5w40 oil (Spec iirc is 10w50) now before going of to Lesotho. but I will have to be quick on deciding whether I want to change the oil (and order filter)

I applaud your determination with this bike M0lt, I seriously would have just taken it to KTM and said "fix it then sell it".

At least you know the bikes inner workings now for future fuckups.

If you don't want to be pressured you could always book a service during your trip, in Bloem for instance.

I am feeling more positive now. the thing is we have access to a lot of information. so now I know most probably the MTC and general failure is either a weak battery or throttle linkage that is stuck (easy fix/check) and I also know that the standard oil filters in cold weather can pull the paper element in. But damn, do I really need to get all the possible issues that other have somewhere had to fix!

So yes Renrew, as much as I like the bike...its starting to get a bit old now. I just need to get going on that trip, sure I will feel better afterwards.
I console myself with believing what is sorted wont pop up again, and there is not many issues left to possibly get.

bud500 no choice for a Bloem service, our itinerary is a bit packed. If there is some extra motivation (touch wood) on top of fitting new front rim I will send it in for a service. Service will probably include valve clearances then, and whatever else long term stuff I am not interested in doing myself.

Anyone know if the Hiflo 650 is the correct oil filter with the bypass for cold oil?
