Update time!!!
With my last outing I bend the Akront front rim on a rock. Bike actually took two knocks on rocks, first I was standing and weight on the rear tyre so it was a rather spectacular moment kicking the front wheel up pretty high, no damage. Next one was gunning it in thick sand and it a hidden rock in the sand while in a corner. One of those where you just clench your jaw and wait to feel if the tyre is also deflated.
So I can give feedback that the new Akront is a lot stronger than the previous Saxxes, but not strong enough and I should have gotten something aftermarket. My riding is 'evolving' as I gain more and more experience and confidence on the bike. So the hits it has to take gets harder and harder.
Already fixed though. My stepfather has a press, fixed my saxes rim (he wanted to, likes to play with his press, I will not use it again though) and he just fixed this rim as well but says it was a mission. Was very hard and eventually had to heat it up.
Also due was oil change. Bike is now at 35000, (IIRC I got it at 18000). mentioning it here I can come and check when I serviced it in my thread in future.
This time I took time out to make the hole in the bash plate bigger so that it is possible to remove and clean the oil screen without removing the bash plate. So an oil change is very easy now.
Still happy with the oil Manic, previous owner, used. Shell Racing 4T. Used it again. The only issue still is my clumsiness...
I spilled A LOT of oil.
For future reference, oil out of rear screen comes out slow, no problem. Oil out of drain plug also comes out slow, no problem. But oil out of front comes out in a thick stream!
First picture shows the hole I made bigger, It actually looks pretty good, I will retake picture later when the edges are not cleanly filed.
Second picture has the bike on its side, the hydraulic jack just collapsed beneath bike (3 days after service), probably because of all the oil that spilled over it. Fortunately no new damage to bike.
Bike is on the jack because I had to fix the wheel and no centre stand.
NOW I am really raring to go for a ride!
