I can sell them, but is mainly about spreading the idea.

My pilot project is working well, the houses are surrounded by trees, so suntime is getting limited,

a bigger solar panel and battery will be needed, cellphones are power hungry and chew the amps.

The controllers I buy from banggood and the panels from sustainable.co.za.

I a few of each in stock

interesting! :thumleft:
that controller is quite cheap and all same price, whether 10, 20 or 30A rated

Have you been able to check to what voltage it allows the battery to discharge before cutting power?

EDIT: just had a look at the manual and see one can adjust various parameters  :thumleft:

The usb ports seem to bypass the settings and drains the battery

guess that's how it should be, some hysteresis, else it would oscillate at that drop-out level

If USB continues, I would see that as a fault, seeing you could draw 3A @ 5V (~1.5A at 12V) which could ruin your battery quickly

Panel R166
controller R150
Usb with voltmeter R150
Battery R80
wiring and lights Less than R50

New controllers direct from china will have usb and voltmeter built in for R150

Where do you get the batteries at such a low price?
Can you get 12AH 12V?

Ja, R89 for the battery and R100-R190 for shipping.

I see the 12ah price start at R400. Ouch.  :-\

what do you want to use the batteries for, there are nice 28 amp/h batteries for about R500, if they suit your requirements

For an electrical motorcycle. Three in series to give 36V
Larger than 12ah will probably not fit. 7ah can make a plan but won't last as long. 12ah or 9ah is recommended.
Supplier sells them for R500 each. Was wondering what others offer.  His price seem good now.

no, i meant if it a kids toy its ok, thought you bought yourself something that runs with that.

I have plenty stuff for the kid running off batteries, am having an issue now with the scooter, but it not the batterries.

how about changing it to a decent 12v battery with a step up converter

problem will be that current will more than treble and he will lose about 10% through conversion losses

 :thumleft:

Not really in the mood to try to change the system. Was just hoping if you can buy a 7ah battery for less than R100 that I can maybe buy a 12ah for R200 about. Will just have to fork out the R500 per battery and get it over with.
