Ktm clutch "jump"
« on: January 27, 2017, 08:08:57 pm »
Hi 640 Clan

I am experiencing "clutch jump" with my 2003 640 adventure.
The clutch seem to engage suddenly with a jump rather than smoothly when taking off. This only happens when the bike is cold, but dont happen once the bike warmed upcafter a few kilos. What could this be and how do I fix this?
Any wise words would be appreciated!

I think you should start by checking your oil level. When oiI level is very low clutch plate can get a bit dry and more grabby.

Yes, wet clutch do this and its even worse if it stood for a week or two.
My SE would sommer start running forward with clutch pulled in and in gear. But that was after standing for about 3 weeks.

Help Please!

I checked my clutch fluid level, and the clutch still grabs and "jumps" everytime the bike cooled down after a break in riding.
My clutch was replaced a while ago after it faded after a mud ride of 70Km's +

Could my clutch fluid have been affected by getting to hot?
How do I replace my clutch fluid?

I tried the owners manual, but it only mentions topping up levels.
