Impatience cost you money .......  :deal:
So I have the connection sleeves for the carb's on order but, thought I would see if I can get locally in any case - make sense ? Not really  :peepwall:
Two port ID sizes are 48mm & 42mm on the Bing's.
Got a length of 50mm  & 40mm good quality italian hose from Bestobel  :thumleft:
Problem is - I had to buy a 1m length of each........ and use 2 x 29mm for each sleeve.
That means I have 942mm left for future use. i.e. enough for another 32 sleeves from each length .....  ::)
Anyhow .....

I'm watching this story unfold as we speak. Interesting stuff. Both Ian and Flex have XR's that we sometimes reminisce about. Then a bit of Airhead happens and it's good to see the effort the guys are making.in keeping dreams alive.  :thumleft:
What else is there to do? Air-cooled for one, though I suspect the Beemer boys got it right the first time round.Cool runnings Lex. We wanna see you on a ride with us soon.

Quick post ...  :thumleft:
How to seal the small disc at the top of the Bing carb ?
Anybody had this problem?
If I sucl/blow on the top of the carb I have air flow either way.
Being a vacum carb - this is surely not right?
Any suggestions :-\

Im sure that once the disc is inserted - at manufacture time, the carb is knorled over the disc. So knocking it out will definately break the edges.
Also, if you look down the tube on the inside, there is a small hole driled into the tube, so too much glue on the inside will cause a problem as well.

Mmmm - its so long ago that I removed this when redoing the harness I can't remember which wires when where....
I see that the two fuses are clearly diff amperages but, which is at the top/bottom on which wires .....
The manual says 7.5amps ?
Cleaned up & ready to go ..... where?
Anybody used an updated fuse holder at all?
Green at the top / whilte grey/black at the top.

Lex,

fusebox attaches to the frame with metal clamp were the latch holds the tank to the frame (top pipe off frame)

Regarding the fuses. Same fuse size for both. Doesn't matter which set of wires attaches to which fuse. As long as it is grey with grey and green with green.

You can replace the fusebox with any alternative. Know Fudmucker was looking for alternatives a while back.

Oh, and make sure you close the lid properly. I lost mine.

Thanks Pietas, I thought the fuse ratings were diff in my box (probably just what was available at the time) - hence my concern.
Can you still buy these old ceramic fuses?
As far as I can see on the wiring diag, the fuses seems to be only for the rear tail light, if I remember correctly.
