I was researching something about a floating bicycle when I found this interesting story below. Reading it makes me feel a lot better about some of my own daft ideas. I must say though, that is a really adventurous spirit and idea.

Bike-boat bursts into flames during ambitious Channel crossing
Francis Lamotte took his KTM 690 bike-boat for a swim across the Channel, but it all went down in flames after an unexpected fuel leak. Luckily, ambitious Lamotte was able to escape the ball of fire by submerging himself in water and swimming to safety, before being picked up by a support boat.
Lamotte's bike-boat, however, was not so lucky. After Lamotte's fuel tank leaked and caught fire after overheating, the boat was engulfed in flames which melted the rubber dinghy to which it was attached. It wasn't long until the flaming mass sunk deep into the water, leaving a devastated Lamotte sopping wet and bikeless.
He had purposefully adapted his KTM to fuel his dream to cross the Bering Strait from Russia to Alaska. He has now collaborated with Australian biker Patrick Coleman, so that they can fulfill the voyage as a pair.
