So this weekend my bike's fan stopped working. Removed it, hooked it up to 12V and noticed it was shorting, but if you turned it by finger it would start spinning without issue. I would again short every other time.
Disassembled the motor and noticed the brushes have burnt so it's beyond repair, plastic melted. Not sure about the cause because I didn't find anything in the fan and I'm always making sure it's turning freely.
Either way, I'm not going to pay whatever BMW wants for a new one, it's a Spal fan/motor so I'll find a similar one and replace the motor. I'll keep you posted...
