BMW R1200GS
Late on Friday afternoon I found myself on my 2011 GS stuck in 3rd gear with the gear lever flapping up and down at will.
It turned out that the nut holding the gear change level to the gear selector linkage had come loose and was lost, allowing the gear change lever to disengage.
A simple fix with two cable ties got me home and I then fitted an M8 Nyloc nut.
On Sunday evening I visited a friend with a 2011 GSA and, as we were finalising the Buffalo Rally trip,
I went to his bike and the very same nut was almost undone, it could easily be turned by hand.
Both bikes have some 40 000 km on the clock. Both dealer maintained.
I suggest that you take two 13 mm spanners and check tighten your nuts before you ride.
