It's fair to say that there are many exceptional gravel passes in the Eastern Cape that are worthy of superlatives, but this one has an almost perfect package of ingredients elevating it to the top of our list as a best all rounder. Add incredible Drakensberg scenery, waterfalls, forests, steep gradients, hairpins, and a picnic site at 2115m ASL on a road that takes you into a zone of isolation and tranquillity - this is a road to nowhere (unless you consider Ida and Clifford as destinations).
