Then bit more tar to Niewoudtville and the great camp site at Oorlogskloof. Rustic...but hell there are few spots I have enjoyed more for a camp. If not for a trail run event there this weekend I would have stayed longer
Haven't slept that well in ages. Dead quiet and so dark I couldn't  see my hand in front of my face

And then today
Ma ...se ...hare ...
Today
So I'm chatting to the oke organising the run while we share a fire and a few stories in the lapa. Hugegene reckons there is a very interesting route that run down to the Doringbos driffie... runs between some fantastic rooibos tea plantations apparently. (already I start thinking...riiight...interesting and rooibos tea plantations in the same sentence... norrafok...there is going to be sand

Plan was to head to Tankwa for a  night and then check if I could still make Oasis spitbraai from there...so I tune Hugegene...no bruh...if there is rooibos there  is sand.
No boet says Hugegene in his best connected-to-the-mountain CapeTown accent...I've  like ridden through there on my mountain bike,  there's no sand

Word of advice for the innocent/ill-advised.... never think that if a pro adventure racer has "been through there on his mountain bike" it is going to be easy

Can you please just carry on riding and not come home .... ever!

Enjoying this.  :ricky:

My late brother in law's parents have a sheep farm and tea plantations out in Van Rhynsdorp not too far from there.  Fond memories of herding sheep on the bikes.  RIP Len van Zyl.

Just like that though the fun ended. Admiring the scenery at around 70 just before joining the easy road... and a sand monster came out of nowhere. I had just done a gate and when you switch the Sten off it defaults to full traction control. Tried to open up but the engine just about died and the front wheel dug it Came down like a ton of bricks and could almost hear my ribs creaking

So after what felt like an hour of trying to get my breath back and the bike off me I didn't reckon I could make Tankwa tent camp.
Klapped through to Oasis where I am currently tripping on J&B with a side of Myprodol. Going to be fun getting out of my tent tomorrow

Right so had to give the ribs a bit more of a break so klapped some tar passes wherever the wind blew me ...fok ...and did the wind blow.
(@Ri ...the myprodols and J&B unfortunately have a limited lifespan and after checking Lommies pics  when I was sober again kind of made my mind up to take it easy)
