Update.
So the Little Red Rocket did not really make it in the big world.
It would run out of steam quickly on any small hill.
So I had a search and found some Big Bore Kits...but mostly 150 CC
THEN I found a 180 CC BBK in Taiwan for around R 1200.00. Piston, barrel, gaskets the tootie.
Braam at Shimwels did the conversion and I must say I am impressed with the performance.
With the sprockets it still is not very much faster, but riding up mountains she keeps a good speed now.
So things happend in our lives and we moved down to Riversdale in the Western Cape.
Every weekend we go for a rides. From Gysmanshoek to Barrydale, Riversdale to Stilbaai via Vermaaklikheid,
Riversdale to Malgas, and every day to school and friends.
Then it happend the CALL... Pa die bike wil nie start nie.
Off to the school...pissing with rain find the laaitie next to his Red Rocket that is now a paper weight.
Check petrol = OK
Check spark + Not OK.
No spare spark plug to replace and shops are closed.
So he push his bike home.
He tell me the laaities at school unplugged his spark plug cap earlier the day. He got it going rode home after school to fetch his hockey stuff. Back to school, practice and then it went DEAD.
So that night we did some more checks. Found another spark plug in the toolbox.
NO SPARK.
Measure the plug cap... WTF, diss no reading not even on 20k if it had a resistor in.
Wow lekker easy fix. Wait for tomorrow buy a new spark plug cap and away we go.
Next day new spark plug cap obtained from CCC Motorcycles in Riversdal... nice shop
Home, put it on... NO SPARK. Ag nee.
Find the specs on the coil... with my MM measure it... Shit it looks wrong... Back to CCC Motorcycles... Yes he has one.
Back home put it on... NO SPARK... Shit now only the CDI and pickup coil left.
Tried to measure the pickup coil... Nothing no reading.
So on Saturday while he goes and play hockey in Oudshoorn I strip the stator cover.
Wragtig the pickup coil is DISS.
I never had a pickup coil go faulty before so for met this was new.
Phone Shimwells... Yes we can order one for you, but it comes compete Stator and pickup as one part number.. and thank you meneer that will be 4 weeks waiting on back order and R 1700.00.
Eish Stator is fine, this little pickup is a loose part why not sell it separate... nee ons moet vaseline saam neem.....

So my trusted ebay was consulted....you can buy the pickup coil by itself, but I found the complete stator / pickup coil in Germany for R 727.93 and at the same store the CDI for R 174,88 and it will be on a courier and should arrive 1 to 15 June 2018.
Well he is bikeless and pappie does not feel like MOMS TAXI so he was given the XL 600's keys....with strick instructions not to ride around town, not to drag race his fiends on their 125's... Huistoe, skooltoe en weer huistoe.
He is still smiling and wish the parts take a bit longer to arrive.
