Update time.
So the stator and CDI arrived.
So we started by replacing the stator assembly. No spark ..shit !!!!!!!
Plug in the CDI... POP goes the 12 Volt fuse... shit !!!!!!
Moving into the new house so this project goes on hold.
In the meantime I search the web. The CDI physically looks the same. Even the plug is 100% the same but it has a different number on it.
Turns out that although the XTz and the YBR 125 share the same motor, the electrical parts are not 100% the same. The YBR has a lot of fancy extra stuff like fuel gauge, rev counter etc.
Every now and then I would spend a few spare minutes looking at the wiring and try to see if I get spark.
Funny thing is that it would spark once and then nothing. Checked for loose connections, corroded connections, could not find any.
So yesterday with our FREE HOLIDAY I went out to the garage.
First on the agenda was to take the chainsaw carb out and boil it in my favorite LEMON JUICE pot.
After this the chainsaw starts on the first pull... Very happy.
Then I went and sat in front of the little XTz and I remembered when I did the restoration on the 1958 BSA Bantam I had a spark issue on the little cdi thing that it had on.
On the BSA I followed all the online instructions and wired it as per the info. We could not get spark and I decided to turn two wires around. Well it sprang into life every time on the first kick.
So I had a look at the XTz. The pulse coil has a green and a blue wire. So I had it connected green to green and blue to blue.
No spark and maybe a little spark every now and then.
So I decided that I have nothing to loose.
I connected the blue to the green and the green to the blue.
Pushed the starter and WOW big fat blue continuous spark ...What a relieve.
I thought it is just a coil that gets exited by the magnet passing over it...does not have to be positive or negative orientated.
So we put it together, got some fuel into the tank. Choke on and start......ooooo shit.
She sounds like timing is out...sounds like an internal backfire.
But once the engine is running she runs smooth... only on the START she has this off timing cough.
Pierre took it for a spin to the garage to fill her up with petrol. Runs fine... only the internal cough on startup.
Any suggestions.
Thanks
