I got a head shake on the 1290 S but the R felt solid as a rock. I got it up to 240 with knobbliest and it felt fine. There was still more to go. We also had an 1190 R and this thing is definitely one better. Gavin Morton, who is selling his 1190 for the 1290, was impressed as was GG. See the link below:

Out of RAD on knobblies with 3kms on the clock I got to 160kph (on my GPS) up the highway to go make Gavin Morton green and trust me it was solid as a rock!  Manic maybe you getting parkinsons  :imaposer:  or check air pressure i am running on 2.6.
Nice thing is that the GPS and the speedo are also closer not the 20% out of the 1190.
Fastest i got to was around 170kph and only problem was trying to slow down, i'd say this bikes greatest problem is how you don't realise how quick you are going cause its so smooth and then its OH FUCK got to stop!!!

That's a good problem to have.

Can be the Knobblies, but I got a huge tank slapper under acceleration at about 150kph. Every time, not just once.
Interesting. My partner rode his dad's new 1290 and his comment was exactly that: head-shake at 150 km/h when overtaking (i.e. under acceleration).
was that a 1290 S, R or T?

That's odd. At the world launch in Peru, there were 30-odd journalists from all over the world and no one caught any wobbles. At the SA launch, there were approximately 20 of us, including Dakar winner Sam Sunderland, Alfie Cox and Joey Evans, and again there were no wobbles on the R. I'm guessing something was up with the bike you were on.

Here is some more mindless droning about the 1290 R from The Bike Show:

All Im saying, this aint a ALL NEW 1290 Super R. This is 90% still 1190, and the extra 10% change.

That's exactly how I feel, although I haven't ridden one.    It's way closer to the 1190R than it is to the original 1290SuperAdventure.

I would like to see a "difference spec" sheet between all the new bikes. Anyone?
