Naam van Russiese motorfietse ?
« on: May 19, 2017, 12:20:20 pm »

Minsk? Vostok?  And I'm sure there is another two stroke offering the name of which escapes me at the moment. Named after the town or factory where they are produced.

'Course nowadays those Russian 2 strokes have Chinese 4 stroke motors. Some say it's an improvement.  ;)

There was an extremely ugly little 175 two-smoke at the time by the name of Boxca or something like that.

Yip

It was a BOCXOA 175

Ugly as hell

My one friend had one and we could not break it on the old dumpsite in Pta North

A look at Google reveals a veritable plethora of obscure Russian bikes, including the IZH Jupiter, a 350cc twin made by the Kaiashnikov firearms concern.

Who knew?

Actually, I wonder how many other firearms manufacturers made motorcycles.

BSA.
Royal Enfield.
Kaiashnikov.
Any others?

That's the one! I wonder if any of those are still riding on SA roads today - probably not.
I came across an MZ250 at Wolfie Lompard's shop in Rose street CT many years ago - it looked good in comparison.

A colleague of mine has one in running condition, he sometimes comes to work with it.
He has had to improvise a bit when it comes to spare parts though.

Jawa was also used there, although manufactured in the Czech Republic.

The one where the gear lever is also the kick starter? ;D
Whataboutism . When Cold War criticisms were leveled at the Soviet Union, the response would be "What about..." followed by the naming of an event in the Western world. It represents a case of tu quoque (appeal to hypocrisy), a logical fallacy that attempts to discredit the opponent's position by asserting the opponent's failure to act consistently in accordance with that position, without directly refuting or disproving the opponent's initial argument
