It's narrow, steep and short (and of course paved) but it is the only road up to the higher levels of the game reserve at Pilanesberg. This private reserve has plentiful game and is very well run. It also offers a wide range of accommodation and needless to say, you can see the Big 5 here. Due to the predators, no bikes, quads or open vehicles are allowed, so take your 'platkar'.

In our news release today we feature this little pass, known (confusingly) as the Lenong Pass, which usually gets mixed up with the much bigger Lenong Pass in nearby Marakele National Park, but perhaps more importantly we take a look at Cape Town's big storm and the devastating fires that have roared through the Garden Route from Plettenberg bay to Wilderness. Despite the more than welcome rain, it came at a massive cost to infrastructure, property and human life.

On our FaceBook page you can watch a short video of a big truck being blown over on the N1 by the gale force north-westerly south of Worcester.

The page and video is 'open' for all until Sunday - Enjoy!
