Do it Buff.

You can sleep in my garage for a while while your missus cools down.

Don't ask me, I've had 13 bikes in 5 years, excluding the 2 I have now.  >:D  :ricky:

Oh, and i'm planning another one - maybe a replacement before this year is over.   :occasion1:

I'll share my therapists deats as soon as I've found one that's into bikes  :thumleft: ;)
:lol8: :thumleft:

Your itch might be from your bikes being too similar in nature? i.e both long suspension great offroad not so great onroad, etc etc.
Not sure....but whatever rabithole we go down here now will lead to another bike...so maybe not helping to discuss that.

Hmm  I can cure you but it might cost a bit.  The problem is you have to many unknown experiences that need answering.

Step 1.   Wash your bike to trade in ready standard and take it for a long long ride somewhere special.
Step 2.   Put the dirty bike as is away in the garage.
Step 3.   Choose 10 bikes from everything available (not what you think you want to ride but a wide spread) I would suggest you start off with the  Kawa 300 versus,  try the Triumph 800XCX and GS 800, then go and ride some of the big GS type boys and definitely the bmw 1000 XR.    Then try something totally different, a scooter, a bobber,  an indian/harley, a goldwing and even something very fast.
Step 4.   After all that you will either take the 690 out of the garage and wash it, eager to ride again, or trade her in dirty as is.    At  the very least you will have  had a lot of fun.

I did something like that a few years ago and ended up buying my current bike and have been very happy, no hankering up to now.

Great advice.
Except the dirty trade. You get better prices on a clean bike.

Sometimes I go with the idea that I'll love a bike or hate a bike and after a test ride often what I thought a bike would feel like is different. I once bought a bike becasue the test ride was so good, and i only took the test ride because the dealer offered it and I had an hour to kill.
Just don't test ride what you don't want to afford. ;)

Oh by the way.. the best thing I could do to scratch my itch was to strip my bike, have the motor rebuilt and restore it, spray it a different colour and put on some rubber.. it is going to be a brand new bike when im finished and as it gets closer to completion im getting excited probably more than coughing R100k to upgrade it to something different.

Probably wont help your decision.

I doubt whether anyone has had more bikes than me in the last 5 years.

I live by the Afrikaans sayin - toets alles en behou die goeie.

It' much cheaper to get a new bike than a new wife.

So Buff the only question is - what's on your shortlist?
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies

Yes, and even if I were to get a 1290, I'd still only cruise at 110.

Fortunately I am one of those guys that don't need my confidence propped up by a flashy machine. :lol8:

i often drool over bikes, like the 1290SA R, new AT, and it's lekka. maybe one day I will get a second hand one, but I actualy don't want to get used to the power of the 1290SA R, you get mak and then you end up in trouble

The worse mistake you can make is throwing money at your existing bike in order to force yourself to keep it :imaposer: :imaposer:
And here I was contemplating just that this winter. Crashbars to be powdercoated. Panel or two wrapped and maybe do the headers in new grey inside and out......................
