These pics taken 90 days apart, at the exact same time of the day. Amazing how nature can freeze to death, and come back to life

Wow!

Do you get bears where you live...?

Some parents are paranoid about kids being on their own in the wood with bears about.
This guy have been hanging around the house lately.  He is sneaky. I only realize he is in the yard when the cat starts freaking out. It’s tough to get a good picture. As soon as he hears a door or a window open, he makes a run for it

And he always leaves his mark.....

I am going to call the conservation officer tomorrow and apply for a “nuisance permit” to permanently remove him off the property.....

I don't know if bears follow other animals toilet habits,
but they don't eat where they poop.
So if your place is their midden, they won't be looking for food there?

question answered: no,  a bear does not shit in the woods.   he comes right up to your house and shits on the front lawn.

:spitcoffee: i was waiting for that...

He is looking for garbage. He is traveling throughout the neighbourhood scavenging for scraps of food, dog food, garbage bags etc. He chews on lawnmower seats, jerrycans with petrol in it, pushing over  bbq’s to lick the fat off the grill and ripping off shed doors to sniff around and chew on stuff. I don’t know about the pooping habits of bears, but I am finding a lot of it around lately.

The ministry of Environment just sent me a text to say they will bring a trap tomorrow morning so they can relocate him. Hopefully it works.

Don't you just love it when stuff works - first world country.

So yesterday I had to go get a document certified - I go to the local police station and the cop stamps it but the stamp is very light. I ask him if he can stamp it darker because I need to scan it and it won't be visible - sorry - no ink. I scan the doc and e-mail it off. Sorry we can't use that - we can't see the stamp. And so it goes.

And the trap is set. Hopefully the mixture of fish, dog food, syrup, vanilla and pancake mix will do the trick.

when you think of wild animals in the streets you think of afrika.
i suppose,  world wide,  we are taking more and more space,  and nature is being squeezed.

Correct. I live right on the edge of the provincial forest, and we see lots of wildlife. They have never been a problem. The bears typically “pass through”, but this one chose to stick around. He must have found an easy food source somewhere close.  I know most farmers have been stockpiling their garbage because there were fire bans on and they could not burn their garbage. I don’t burn because even that attracts the scavengers (I drop it off in town). Hopefully we have a happy ending.

He is a fair size. Really intimidating when he stands on his hind legs! He is in really good condition, so not sure why he is hanging around the farm.
