The first -30C for the season. We have been pretty lucky with the weather. Very little snow and very mild temps.

R1132.50 for 2 bottles of whiskey and 12 cans of Smirnoff. I guess that’s what you pay for free health care

Overpriced alcohol in Canada versus darkness, crime, corruption and cheaper alcohol....I choose overpriced alcohol.

Been following your story for a long time and must say I am extremely jealous. Enjoy your alcoholic beverages!

My neighbour is pretty good at making moonshine. Add a little honey and some vanilla and it tastes delicious. And dirt cheap

But my wife is too embarrassed when I offer guests shine, so for special occasions I got to pretend we are not redneck and pour the store bought booze.

Merry Christmas Andrew!

Enjoy the booze, and especially the 'shine! Booze isn't much cheaper here, and we don't have free healthcare  :xxbah:

Maybe I need to investigate how to make some 'shine on the side  :peepwall:  :imaposer:

You can always decant the 'shine with honey and vanilla into the Spike bottle when it is empty...  ;)

It’s cold again. Canada cold!!

Had to start the pellet stove last night. It seems with the little snow we had the basement that is typically well insulated because it is under ground is losing a lot of heat. The snow acts as a blanket preventing heat loss from the ground, but we had less than an inch so far.

I enjoy watching a show called "Building Alaska" - I'm fascinated by it and how they go about building their homes.

Thats a good show to watch. They should have a follow up after 5 years. It would be interesting to see how some of those builds hold up. I cringe when I see some of the guys putting on their tin roofs. You are not supposed to have your tin directly on the roof, but have it sit on 1”x4” “straps” which is screwed to the rafters, so you have airflow between the wood roof and the bottom of the tin to get rid of condensation on the underside of the tin.

Like this.
