I could never understand why Northern hemisphere people leave their cars outside in the weather all the time.
Even new cars are left outside in the sun and the cold at dealerships.
Are cars too cheap to look after or what?
Are carports illegal there?
I had the same question when we moved here, but here is a few reasons I think why:
1. Cars don't last, you rarely see cars from the 90's driving around and even ones that is from the 2000's also getting less. This I figured out is due to the salt that gets thrown on the snow during winter. They just rust away.
2. Cars are cheaper yes. People earn more per average. Or if it breaks buy a new one...
3. No carports here.
4. Garages full of junk.
5. Garages is too small for the vechiles (I can barely fit my wifes SUV in). So if you have a truck (bakkie) or a minivan you wont get it in.
6. BIKES SLEEP INSIDE (Who cares about cars)...
When I signed the contract for my house to rent the owner was puzzled when I told her I want to park inside the garage...
