Korrek ChrisL. Dit was n rerige bekommernis gewees. Ek het nog nie die kinders vertel hulle ma is van Alberton nie, so kom ons hou dit maar tussen ons tot hulle oud genoeg is om dit te hanteer.  ;D

Awesome stuff Andrew!  :thumleft:

Now you can pull a "snowbird" and come enjoy the warmth of Florida for a vacation while the rest of Canada freezes over  :peepwall:

Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Zog! I will definitely take you up on that offer. I have been planning a bike trip and you were one of my
destinations.  But it will have to be during your less busy weeks at work because I suspect there will be some headaches in the mornings  :thumleft:

So I got the insulation done on the weekend. R20 for the walls and R60 for the roof

Then I had to seal all the joints with acoustical sealant and cover it all with poly. The sealant is to prevent condensation buildup in the winter because you cannot insulate between the 2 pieces of wood. All the lights fittings and plugs also gets placed in a plastic "cup" to prevent condensation from happening inside the metal box

Also started the deck this morning. Every board gets a clip on the joist holding it down. Not sure if I trust it, but "they" say it will last a lifetime

It's been a while since I updated this thread, so here are a few pics of the build. The outside is 95% done. The deck needs steps and a rail on one side, and the siding needs to be painted the new colour. But that will have to wait till next year April

But it is all toasty and warm on the inside! We ripped out all the walls on the main floor, and framed the new rooms

It's chaos inside but if we leave it outside we won't find it under the snow

This is the "under" the bathroom floor. All the fresh air intake, combustion air for furnace and air exchange suction and exhaust. I upgraded my furnace to 80,000 btu as well.

Looking great Andrew!

Remember to mark that section of the wall that is so "busy" under the drywall with wires and pipes and flues and water lines and stuff...

Ek het daai een mis gelees...

Daar is in afrikaans n verskil tussen spyker en skroef. Engels blykbaar nie....

Wood is really cheap here. We have a sawmill in town which makes it cheaper, and I used to work there so I still get an employee "discount" that makes it even cheaper.

Gratis !?! Nou se jy my. Wanneer kom jy? Ek sal jou voer ook!

I am so sick of this project. My kids think we are divorced because I don't live with them and their mom ( we are renting a house in town since we have no water or kitchen). I just stop there before or after work to get something to eat and then go back to the farm. But the good thing is I lost 8kg ( literally worked my ass off)
