Desert Fox Helmet any good?
« on: July 03, 2017, 09:21:32 am »
Hi

I am interested in buying a Desert Fox dual purpose helmet and was wondering if any of you have bought this helmet, if so how is it? Is it worth buying?
Or what dual sport helmet would you guys advise for not too much over R3000? Im on a BMW f800 GS.

Regards
Jaco

interested in the feedback. I am on the last of the Uvex helmets, and for all its faults its still one very comfortable helmet is all I can say. One of those....if its on your head you forget it... helmets

Hey Jaco,
I am also interested in the chat on this thread as i will also need to replace my helmet.
I looked at the importers website & the top of the range, adventure style helmet costs nearly the same amount as the BMW Enduro.
Is this perhaps not the better option ?
Regs,
Jon

I have the Desert Fox helmet. It is a great helmet, it is the updated version of the old Uvex ADV helmet. Nice airflow and great features. It is really well padded and super comfy only that it catches me on my forehead unfortunately.

For this reason I am selling my Desert fox if you are interested in it. I've worn it a couple of times in the hope that it would "mold" to my head shape better becasue I really didn't wanna sell it, but it didn't.

Let me know if you're keen. I'm based in Nelspruit. Even if you just wanna try it on :thumleft:

Fit..excellent
No movement on head at speed
Noise...average and certainly not the worst
Visor has good positions

Peak could be longer and adjustable

Extremely happy with mine.
It didn't cost much, the fit is great, even with glasses, the build quality looks fine. I like that it comes with two peaks, and a visor (which I removed - I ride with goggles)
Not the quietest helmet, but what do you expect with a peak.
I would buy another one.

I replaced my Uvex with a Desert Fox and would buy it again if I damage mine.

I did have a issue with the peak "squeaking" where it touched the helmet but used a bead of hot glue all around the peak bottom to stop the rubbing and the issue was sorted. PLEASE NOTE I am not saying all the helmets does this as I am not aware of any other complaints on it. Maybe I am just over sensitive to rattles and squeaks.

My Uvex was great but the Desert Wolf beats it any day.

I've had my Desert fox helmet for over a year.

I ride a KTM990 and it you catch a fair but of helmet wind with the std screen.

The helmet is amazing. No vibration on visor at high speed and low windnoise. Very happy!!!

Depending where you are and what size you want to try on you can try on mine as it is in the market after my bike was written off..

Contact me if you want to fit it.

I ended up buying a bell mx9, was sold on the desert fox, but then one day i strolled into a bike store and tried on the bell, it fit perfectly and when I went to pay I got discount as it was the last one in that size, so it ended up costing the same as the desert fox. Thanks for all the replies though.
