Mr. Manic, what's your opinion of the windshield mounted GPS holder?  Thinking of pulling the trigger on one.

Mr. Manic, what's your opinion of the windshield mounted GPS holder?  Thinking of pulling the trigger on one.

There are some reports of people saying the GPS bounces alot. But that is when they add a Touratech Lockable mount also on there.

With the 595LM gps and only its cradle, it holds up, No bouncing. And the 595 is not a light GPS. But add an additional lockable mount with cradle and GPS and you will start getting problems.

Buy one   :thumleft:

Yeah, I'd read that on ADVrider, that's why I wanted your opinion.  I like my GPS mounted high, in my line of sight.  I don't care to take my eyes off the road and look down to get directions!!

Okay, I'm going to take your word for it

Oh, by the way.  I see you're ready for your 1st service.  I don't know if you're like me, but I loathe service indicator lights.  I don't need the bike to tell me when to service it.  My KTM mechanic told
me after my service was completed :xxbah: that he set my service light to come back on at 5,000 miles :xxbah: because in his opinion, 9,300 miles (our 2nd service mileage) is too long to go without an oil change.  I explained to him my feelings on service indicators and he then said he can use the XC1 KTM tool to shut off the service indicator function completely.  Then he came back and said, wait, I don't know if I can turn it off completely, but I can set it to where it won't come back on for 100,000 miles.  So, at my second service, I'm going to remind him to do that for me.  Hopefully he's right!

Damn that 1290 motor rocks :headbang: :headbang:

I also do an oil change halfway to my Service. Just oil and filter. You can do it yourself, or let KTM do it for you.
Its good for the motor  :thumleft:

Yes sir, oil changes are simple on the 1290.  I changed my oil for the first svc and cleaned/lubed my chain to save some labor.

Remember on the 1290R they need to connect computer on 1st service to remove the flashing dash at 6500rpm.
Did my 1st Service today at KTM. My neck bearings was a bit loose, but that is normal after teh 1st 1000km.
