I just reread that bit.  I can link to the smartphone and provide navigation, but it seems rudimentary, so most would still prefer to use a GPS device such as the Navigator.

"The 6.5 inch full color TFT Display will be accessed through the handlebar controller and can be connected to your smartphone providing navigation.."

enigste probleem, soos met my kar, gaan 'n map-update weer 'n fortuin kos  :'(

So the TFT's navigation option is basically just relaying the navigation instructions of your smartphone. I see they refer to the BMW iDrive app on the smartphone, so it does not seem that it will integrate with other nav apps like Tom-Tom, Google, iOS maps, etc.

NOOIT!  The German doing the presentation at the launch was at pains to explain how this is less distracting than a normal instrument panel and we know Germans, they would never be wrong.   :imaposer:

There is marketing and bullshit and yet again the latter is the case :imaposer:

Did he also mention that it is unbreakable - in my view just another piece fancy electronics that will be troublesome, mark my words  :deal:

He didn't have to say it is unbreakable.  It is BMW therefore unbreakable is automatically implied.   :patch: :lol8:

A year from now, 99,9% of BMW's will be sold with this TFT thingy.  Another year and it will become standard and hate it, or love it, you will have to live with it.  In 1988 I had a 2.0GSi Kadett with such a digital dash.  I hated it.  Hopefully in 30 years it improved a tad.   :imaposer:

The TFT displays are creeping in to the high end cars these days.  It's an option on VW's.

Navi in my opinion will fall away for general road use. New dash will do the google maps car play function.

It is very handy to carry your GPS to your desktop to connect to Basecamp or whatever.  I would not want to lose that option.
I started biking as an under achiever and it went downhill from there...
