It was another absolutely brilliant event hosted by the WCOC. Due some health issues and a minor operation 2 weeks prior to the event, I was unable to race this year but after looking forward to this event all year there was no way I was going to miss at least being there and enjoying the race vibe and outstanding catering by the locals.
It’s difficult to try explain to someone what they’re missing out on by not doing this event. It’s like finding the best sweet you’ve ever eaten and suggesting to your friend to take a bite but they don’t want to because they’re too full from having lunch but you know that if they do, they’ll be so blown away, they’ll eat that sweet rather than their lunch every day of their life

Yes, it is that good !!!
Even while sweeping the course on Saturday I found myself smiling in my helmet constantly. The fast, sweeping terrain keeps you so engaged on the bike that you just can’t help yourself from acting like a hooligan. It’s offroad biking nirvana
But it’s not just the riding and the terrain that is so amazing, it’s the organisers and the locals and the effort they go to, to make this event so special that stands out. The catering alone is worth the drive out there. All I took with for 3 days away was my coffee pot , a box of rusks and R800 in my wallet and I ate and drank like a King.
The Kerrie Hoender Roosterbrood was particularly good this year

Well done to Clive, the WCOC team and the farmers Connie & Braam and their families for another superb Tankwa 500X.
God willing I’ll be back on the start line in 2018, on a 450 big banger
