So against all the good advise I got .....I went with Adie on this one and pulled the trigger. Im now the proud owner of another pig.
I ended up paying R35k which I think is reasonably fair. I will start another tread on the rehabilitation of of this bike. It should prove to be quite interesting.
So ....wish me luck guys I sincerely hope I havent bought a lemon.
Im picking her up next week ...so pic on the way.

Front disks should not need replacing at that mileage - measure the thickness to see whether they are out of speck.
Ticking noise could also be the left cam chain tensioner - there is a upgrade available.
My gs at 227000km has original throttle bodies.
Take the bike to a good mechanic and do a proper service - Replace all oil and brake fluids and balance throttle bodies and check valve clearances.
Prepare yourself for gearbox bearings- swingarm bearings and final drive bearings.
Good to see you back on the Pig- happy days.

Gearbox bearings and seals relatively cheap and not difficult to do, just lots of labour.  :biggrin: :biggrin:

Congratulations.  I have just done pretty much the same thing. Wonderful learning curve sorting out this one.

 

Finished stripping her yesterday. Off with the suspension today.

If it was me, I would have an overview, any rubbers, parts, gear linkage seals etc needed immediately? and place an order with Motorworks with a full service kit.   8)

Hi Cox, glad you are back in the doghouse, on a bike     :ricky:

IMHO Front discs rattle is not the disc, but the rim wearing away where the discs move due to heat.
 I just fit a set of SS fender washers between the rim and the disc to take care of that. It offsets the disc by a mm but that is still fine.

Hey Brian, happy miles and enjoy sorting out the niggles. Luckily there's water restrictions in the good old Cape, washing your bike can be postponed with good reason!
