Bike SA?
« on: August 26, 2017, 08:16:19 am »
So I picked up a copy of BikeSA the other day and the format has pleasantly changed, is this due to new ownership or just the last throw of the dice?  Some really great articles in it, take a browse, specifically at the Royal Enfield Himalayan 400.
If You're going through hell, keep going.

Ridefast are at pains to point out the demise of Bike SA although i still got one off the shelf still. Not sure what's happening?

Agree.I enjoyed the article on the V2 engine configuration.Seems the new guys are keen to change the traditional content a bit.

Donovan posted some time ago that the printed version of BarkSA no longer is. It is all online now.  :thumleft:

Yeah it seems everyone was toting the demise of the magazine, but seems it has been sold/taken over by a new crowd....and that is some fresh blood it dearly needed. Quite enjoyed the new issue, might actually be buying it again!

Nearly right. I have joined Mat and Harry at The Bike Show. Simon is running the rallies and the resort in Harties.

Glad you like the new mag. I hope it all works out.

Was Bike SA sold or just under new management. If so how does the Bike SA online work?

I can second that

Bought one today (3rd one in 5 years !), and will now buy it monthly again

It's a good read. A nice mix of historical, new developments, road & off road with some nice ride reports thrown in with less of an emphasis on rallies & pictures of sweaty people holding up the tent poles...

The Fouries provided what the market wanted - for many years, with great success ! The small percentage of critical pseudo bike snobs, who in any event mostly talk more on forums than ride, really represent a very insignificant percentage of the biking fraternity. The new operator of Bike SA is not new to doing bike mags by the way.

:thumleft: You are not alone. Its very expensive to obtain and hold onto advertisers and paper printing partners, particularly in the current economic climate .That' why I rather support the local magazine operators.

I hate an e-mag...... if BikeSA stay this way I am lost to them as a long time reader.......... Must say Clint at Superbike is doing a fantastic job with the mag and brings that SA flavour in big time  lately :thumleft:

Hopefully BikeSA (for me) retains most of its essence as I really enjoy reading (Howie/Nick etc) and browsing all the ads/pictures lol......... But I doubt the new guys will be able to keep it afloat as the characters are just so vastly different....... may time hopefully prove me wrong though!
Long live the Underdog.........
