Apart from losing you warranty, reducing resale value and engine life and possibly drivability, is it wise to de-cat a bike?
Global Warming is upon us. Here in the Western Cape we are living with the effects. Governments (apart from Luthuli House who do not see the need to introduce cleaner petrol), environmental groups and car makers - even the F1 movement - all are on an aggressive drive to reduce pollution and greenhouse gases - Volvo will not make ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles after 2020. VW and others lost billions for trying to sidestep regulations. Even motorcycle manufacturers are accepting the reality of global warming and are spending billions to comply.
How wise are we then to take the view that our bikes are in need of a de-cat - in the name of a few HP more / heat / more sound / winning the drag race? Just because we have a dysfunctional government and poor law enforcement does not mean we are exempt?
