Another one
« on: September 09, 2017, 02:43:31 am »
Like some of you I have started out on a 50cc way back. Then upgraded and used a 500XT as an adventure bike in the early 80's, but decided to sort out the kids without being in a wheelchair and sold it. Youth and bikes were a dangerous combination in a time when you could still ride all the beaches and the dirt roads through the plantations in the beautifull mountains of the Southern Cape. With the kids sorted a few years back I bought a XT600e, met 'n knoppie nogal, and started riding the countryside again, almost always alone. When I started riding with friends I had to upgrade to a bigger bike to keep up, "groepsdruk", and currently I am riding a Varadero.

Thanks. My kids mean the world to me, therefore the choice then. No regrets. Bikes can be a rewarding but selfish hobby. My son bought a Transalp recently and will join a few of us on the last two days of a eight day trip when we pass Cape Town where he now work.

A F'ugly is a different sort of bike, the 1150 is boring and the 1100s makes me smile.
