Hey guys, I came across a terrible bike accident late yesterday afternoon on the N7 (right foot severed from leg, right armed completely shredded). We managed to stabilize the guy on the scene and he was airlifted to the Blaauberg Netcare. He’s in ICU and doing OK. The driver that caused the accident fled the scene, but was apparently apprehended. Sources said that he was under the influence of alcohol and doesn’t have a license (cannot confirm this though). The accident happened about 5km from home on returning from a 2-3 day trip.
I’m telling you for a number of reasons:
1. Be careful out there on the roads. There are plenty of idiots who can quickly turn a Sunday afternoon cruise into a lifetime of pain, discomfort, heartache and loss.
2. Please pray for the guy (Eckehard Sixt), his family (fiancé) and close friends.
3. It's my way of coping with the trauma.
