You definitely do NOT want to end up in the same situation as Roberto Recalde

No need to kick bam bam ass....he will do it himself :)

True that. He self destructs very reliably...

Little bit disingenuous as he has matured a lot and would probably have won last year if not for the team fuelgate error.

They refuelled illegally in a nuetralisation - the impact being they could run lighter bikes. Whole team got an hour penalty, which should actually have been a DQ.

Menzies crash video.
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1638227072887779&id=148066615237173

Twice in two days he didn't heed his navigators instructions. The first time lost them time and second time it cost them the race and broke his navigators ankle.

I can't find it now but I read his comments on both occasions. I'm paraphrasing now, but he said of the second crash that his navigator told him to slow down as the kicker was in the road book as a caution, he thought better of it and kept his foot in.

I wonder what the repercussions of this will be?

Thanks Neil and others for the information sharing.

I must say I'm enjoying this type of start to Dakar much more than the usual Argentinian WRC style flat out racing at the beginning. You can see things got tough very quickly and many guys are battling. The pace of those Peugeots scares me because they are fast in the dunes and no doubt they will be very fast at altitude and in the faster stuff later on.

And as much as I'm a KTM fan, I'm thrilled to see the strong showing from Honda and Yamaha so far. This can only make for a cracker of a Dakar.
