Ongeluk, of doelbewus?

If you look carefully at the attached picture, you will see the road is fairly straight. Furthermore, highways are designed to give you more than enough line of sight to safely stop from the design speed. (This highway was designed when designs still happened)

I hope this gets treated as murder as I have heard two people passed away! And then also as racist to the extreme. I also trust that the people who was there and witnessed the whole incident will make a big hoo haa about this, with further road blockages and protest marches!

Look at the video posted.  It shows an accident and as of last night, as reported by paramedics on site, no one had died or even came close. .

False news is the bane of our society.  It helps no one and only serves to devalue something great such as we saw yesterday.  People who are spreading the rumour to you and other that people died, when none had is not helping.  People who are spreading the story that three trucks slammed into the protest, are not adding value.

My guess is that not a single vehicle involved in this was part of the protest anyway.  It was vehicles trapped behind the protest that were involved.  I reckon that a slow moving convoy, or a group of parked vehicles, blocking a highway will have rows and rows of vehicles back up behind them with a minute or so and a truck crashing into that will not be anywhere near the actual protest anyway.  (Not that that makes it any less tragic).

My info came from people who were there and saw the "accident" happen. I agree with the false news, but be aware that the news is not reporting the matter factual at all either

Agreed.

Just a note.  I am not saying the people who spoke to you intentionally lied.  They clearly had an incorrect understanding of exactly what happened.

I watched the video and it is clear that the truck from which the video was made, did not cause the accident. The "video" truck was almost stationary, when the truck causing the accident came flying past it, hitting cars and the truck in front of the "video" truck. So, it is still an open question whether this was an accident or not?

You can actually hear the brakes sqreaching and then it jack knifed.  Accident, I believe, but let's agree to disagree.

I find it very difficult to believe the truck driver did that intentionally.

Meanwhile...  >:(

The inncident with the trucks and what the crowd did speaks of the attitude of the protesters... no one was out there to cause deliberate kak.
Some Gupta pawns of course had to vent their spleen as well all over social media as did the numbnut EFF leader... compared to the usual protest this was probably one of the most peacefull yet! :thumleft:

How was this "barricade" organized that a truck driver did not get ample pre-warning about a large group of stationary vehicles up ahead?

@ BJ, the truck driver was a dumb cnut that wasn't paying attention and drove into the blockade (and not aimed at the masses of people standing around). Note that it is also reported that other vehicles piled into the wreckage as well, thus unlikely (if true) that this was intentional. Not having been there, one cant say whether this was really intentional.
Most news reports also indicate two injuries and no deaths. Unless of course you have news to the contrary.

I am not being unsympathetic here, not at all.

I think its so sad that in these incidents, politics finds a home...whether its an ANC politician popping up when two dumb f@cks stuff a trespasser into a coffin or when somebody arrives at black Monday with an old SA flag.

I listened, with a lump in my throat to the original gent sat in his bakkie asking us to wear black in support of his cause....its super wrong when politics hijacks this stuff

:thumleft: Great post this and it's basically ignored.

I attended, from start to finish.

I was very surprised by the turnout at Kanonkop. They expected 2000-3000 people and completely missed it. My estimate would be 15000 upwards. At 38 degrees and riding at no more than 20km/h, was a killer on the clutch hand :)
the 30 odd kilometers from 5 hours upwards

It is strange to see all the negativity since I experienced the complete opposite on the route. Long day, but very worth it!! Next time I need to remember my Camel back :)

It seems, this is where the problem started.

The "barricade" was not stationary, they miscalculated the speed of the convoy. Just like many rear enders happen... fuss over. :sip:

Even when having a rolling road block, there should be a sweep to ensure an accident like this does not happen.  In this case, it seems that there wasn't.  I do agree with you that it was just a rear ender, possibly due to a driver a tad less attentive than he should have been.  It would be interesting to see how they sort the responsibility when the time comes.

Also read that and it is a really good reflection.
The emotions were running high, within all races. No anger or blame, but sadness and disappointment of the state of our country
