And 173 999 for the standard model, 26k less than a 850GS. To be fair the GS does have quite a bit more kit as standard
Seems the GS has got quite a bit going for it then, kit and weight and price!

hey dikkes, jy gaan nie pas op n 790 nie, so pass maar hoor.

Hey Guys

Been ages since I last posted.   Been surprise by all the comments about pricing of bikes and the new 790.  Just for reference and some perspective.  Here is the price for the 1090R in Portugal.

Ä16 257.00. At the exchange rate while posting this post it amounts to R250 845.51

Versus the R198 999.00...

No pricing here yet for the 790 but will probably be about 20k-30k more here than the 1090R is in SA.

Yeh, South Africa always has very good bike prices, that doesnít mean R200k isnít a lot of money still man.
Bought the 1290r here in the UK for £11500,  0% interest

The bikes are on the floors in some countries. The real joke is actually that KTM own WP and they should be fitting decent WP suspension from the get go, not kits.

Bikes look very naaise  :ricky:  Definitely better in the flesh ... but no unicorn IMHO. The front instrument and light fairing looks very vulnerable to any impact. Bike is low and wide in front, top and bottom. Bashplate is like 2mm. No centre stand but good to see tubeless tyres. Clutch really is a cable pull - PULL being the operative word. Quickshifter and many other features will be KTM Powerpart extras at extra $$$$ I am sure will sell in numbers.

There are only the two models in SA and are only here for homologisation - not for actual launch. They are not even mapped as yet. So will not be shown off elsewhere as i understand as will be under scrutiny for paperwork. Brenton from KTM PE will be off to Morocco for 5 days next month for the international launch. I am sure he will put it through its paces - nice desert there as well.

I have been concerned from day 1 about the strenght of the headlight mount. Time will tell.
But bike looks good. I personally like the part about being lower. Eks n kortgat.

The unit is made of a composite carbon plastic but still have my doubts as it sticks out like a preying mantis head. And yes the steristumpies will get their feet down - KTM listened on this one but I see tall seats and lowered footpegs  being sold.

So annoying, that at my age, I still can't afford to buy a new bike. And by the time the 2nd hand ones are affordable, I'll be shopping for zimmer frames.

Just wondering ........... if they were to make a 690 with a comfortable seat, would the 790 become redundant?
