Good review - lots of info.

Starting to really like this bike.

Yeah I'm struggling for reasons not to buy one. Hopefully KTM will let me have an extended test ride on the uglier one

The only reason: relatively not good looking.
The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Besides the looks, I like a twin to be in the V configuration, Don't care much for this parallel stuff.

I dunno hey - parallel twin has so many advantages over a V twin -
Weight
Size
Efficiency

It has a 270 degree crank which is exactly the same firing configuration as a V twin so it will work like a V, triumph did it in the 50's and Yamaha continued with it  in the TDM series from 96. same as the Africa twin and super tenere.

The only reason: relatively not good looking.

Guess the pros of living in a country where biking isnít big...  our ktm dealer has had the 790 adventure r on the floor now since last week... no waiting list and ready to deliver.

Point is... iím Really keen on pulling the trigger, but not sure...

some things I noticed:

1. hight felt higher than 880mm as the f800gs was also 880mm but didnít have a problem with the hight.  This one feels more like my 690 I had back in the day and that was 910mm. ( can possibly be that the compression is too hard from the factory but doubt that)

2.  We waited to long for a ďlight weightĒ dual purpose bike that now light weight classified as 189kg dry... donít know if it was legit but in 2010 the f800gs dry was 177.8kg...

The result of these 2 things I have noticed:  donít know if the new 690 with rally kit might be better to go with

If the A Team can make this plan come together....

Ordered orange Adventure... after confirming about 10 times what color orange I wanted, I get told your bike is white... :imaposer: so be it, can swap out panels if it's really a bother... then again according to most, it's so damn ugly, don't think it will make a difference...  :imaposer:

Agree. Because I commute 110 km daily, efficiency is a big deal to me. Another one of the requirements for my next bike is big dual rotors and radially mounted calipers. And it must be adventure capable for holidays. Just on those 3 requirements alone, nothing other than the 790 comes to mind that fits the bill.

For the Austrian and German's here, a pretty good first impression. The R model seems to tick all the right boxes...

Wow...... now iím confused...  I went to go sort out my purchase of the 790 adventure R today.  Got on it and canít put both of my feet on the ground.  Talking about tips of my toes,  have to choose right or left.  There is a 1290 adventure R next to it, get on it and can get both my feet on the ground.   (Possibly had more petrol in the tank?)

So now I donít know if itís seat related in terms of hight, width and shape or I have wonky legs that fit on 1090r and 1290 R but not 790.

Hopefully some more guys will share sometime soon about this, as I really wanna sign and get this bike on the trails!
