They quote same numbers - but claim improved mid-range response ... due to changes in air box and lighter balancer shaft ...

Just a few more improvements and it will almost be on par with a KTM 950.

It is great to see the Japs really committing to Adv biking again!!!
Wasn't expecting to see so many improvements to an already brilliant bike after just 2 years... 

perhaps because these were selling like hotcakes... I think they need to do better market research

Now I get it, the one in all the pics and video is actually a added model to the range.  As previously mentioned, will most likely cost an extra 30k. A bit like the GS vs GSA in the BMW range.

The seat height is not lower, actually 50mm higher than std bike.  Incidentally my favorite thing about the AT is that is great for us kort okes. I guess if you want better travel/suspension, can't do that without increasing height of the bike. I did consider buying a taller screen at some point, just catches my peak, found myself crouching a bit to get out of the wind. They have sorted that out!

All in all it's going to make reasonably light bike a bit heavier... bigger tank, bash plate etc. 

Must say it looks fantastic...

Honda does have a higher seat (+- 30mm) as well as a lower seat option on the current AT range. Can I get someone to call you regarding this option.

There seems to be some great practical upgrades to the new AT -
My question to someone in the know at Honda would be what if any of the upgrades can be crossed over to those off us that already own the 2016AT namely
- The steel option for the footpeg holder - this is a great upgrade as the cast ali one as the potential to break and fixing thhis in a remote place could prove troublesome - better to be able to find a welder and fix the new steel one .
- The revised passenger peg holder - this new version is more tucked in and an improvement on the old sticky out design that finds the back off your legs sometimes .
- Revised engine mapping for starting in sand in second on the DCT model - is this a software upgrade and directly transferable ?
- The grab handles on the new AT also look fantastic and a good looking upgrade to the older plastic ones ( not a must have but interesting to see if its a direct swop ) 
- and any other of the new upgrades that can be transferred too the older model

yeah... somewhere in the future I see myself on one of these. my request: tubeless pls!

I actually like that it does not have too much power, and is not too lightweight. We don't all want to do motocross on our bikes. Happy to just hit the gravel and go adventure, and on tar I can't get myself into too much trouble with high speeds. I don't want a bike that can do 250km/h, I don't want the option

lyk asof Honda geluister het na die mark - die 2018 version kom met 'n klomp goeie upgrades :

- groter tenk
- beter ground clearance (maar laer seat?)
- flat seat
- crash bars standard
- decent sump guard - laat my die aan die rd03 / rd04 s'n
- beter windscreen
- beter suspension
- ride by wire throttle
- beter traction & extra ride modes
- hrc colour scheme

Do you really think the ride-by-wire is an improvement? And standard crash bars will mean boxes from Honda at inflated prices....?

I like all the improvements stated ... and will admit that slowly the colour scheme is also growing on me ... something about 50th anniversary ?
