Agreed, also have that feeling. Strange, because he called us the best bikers forum he ever came across.

Apparently he became overly personal, imaginative and descriptive on one of the R&P threads... I noticed he seems to run on a short fuse  :P

I know he's back, he already posted in the other thread about the motorcycle museum...  :pot:  :thumleft:

Okay, where was I?  Oh yes, a 60 day stint in the Wild Dog Penitentiary for Conservatives!!

Now, back to the rest of the story.

Without a rideable motorbike, well, in all truthfulness, the big ugly Austrian was rideable, just not very easily with a broken clutch perch.  Don't think I'm simply making excuses, but whomever designed the wrap around design of the OEM clutch perch should receive 10 lashings!!  Said perch is also made of very weak pot metal.  KTM, can we please go back to a 2 bolt design old fashion steel or high strength aluminum clutch perch?  At $17,995 usd suggested retail, I'm not going to not buy the bike if the price increases to $17,996.00 usd with a traditional perch!

Well well, just what the phuck do I do now.  I have over 10 days to kill before I start a new job.  Do I tuck my tail between my legs, give up and quit, and go home and twittle my thumbs for 10 days, doing the old knuckle shuffle on my piss pump every other hour?  Not my style.  NEVER QUIT, NEVER GIVE UP, unless you're severely outnumbered, then retreat and live to fight another day.  Kids reading this, write that down.  I need to make a plan, then execute.

I have an old Ducati ST4s ABS in my barn that hasn't been started in.............hell, I don't know how long!!  I just remember dumping stabilizer and an enzyme treatment in the gas tank, hooking a float charger to the bat tree, and covering it.  So, I rent a pickup, aka bakkie in Saffer speak, load the Katoom and head South..................................868 kilometers East and South.  My home state is yuuuuuge.

I arrived home, tired and weary, so I decide not to mess with the Duck.  I'm going inside, fix myself a sammich, make a bourbon on the rocks, heavy on the bourbon, and watch tv.  Next morning, I walk out to the barn, wondering if my Italian mistress will give me any flack for not giving her a proper rogering in so long.  She's one temperamental bitch, you see.  When you ride her hard, fast, and often, she'll love you back like you cannot believe, but let her sit without any attention for a week and a half, and she'll protest like an Italian psycho.  I love her.

I uncover her.  The light on the float charger is green, not blinking, so I should plenty of bat tree juice to turn the bitch over.  I choke and sneeze from all the dust on her cover.  I'd left the key in her ignition to let her know I was coming back for her someday.  I turn the key to the 'on' position, I hear the fuel pump scream, injecting a small load of go go juice into her lungs, hit the start button, the starter engages, and...my mistress came to life in less than a second, blowing a lovely Italian Desmodromic symphony out of her Fast by Feracci pipes, a sound no other motorcycle can imitate.  Thank you, Dr. Fabio Taglioni, may you be resting in eternal peace with your masterpiece on display next to you.  I had not heard this symphony in so long, I instantly developed a bone so big, I had to waddle out of the barn, my legs walking around the bone, to get some fresh air.  Needless to say, I'm happier than a pig in shit.

Only one problem, I look down at the rear tire and I estimate I have about 1,500 miles of rear tire left.  There's no way I'm going to be able to ride back to the U.P., ride where I want to ride, and make it back down the L.P. on the tread I have left.  No worries, I've ridden up and back down too many times to count anyway, so I'll drive back to the U.P. with my bakkie, with the Duck riding on my hitch mounted motorbike carrier.  After the KTM tragedy and all of the anxiety the past 2 days, the thought of driving my big GMC with air conditioned seats sounds too luxurious to pass up.  Also, if anything were to go wrong again, the GMC offers piece of mind I will not get stranded so far away from home, with a new job beginning soon.

I decide I will leave the next morning bright n early, so I get everything loaded up, throw my bags in the GMC, and then go in and relax the rest of the day and evening for the long drive the next day.

Up early and on the road again, heading due North, I arrive at the Mighty Mac with sun shining bright.  The following pic shot through my GMC's windshield.

Mackinac Island.

St. Ignace, city on the north side of the Mackinac Bridge.  Pictured are the homes along the point.  A ferry traveling to St. Ignace from Mackinac Island.

A slight wait on the Mackinac Bridge to enter the Upper Peninsula.

A couple more pics of the point off the city of St. Ignace on the Lake Huron side of the Mackinac Bridge.

The Lake Michigan side of the Mackinac Bridge.

Michigan State Police, St. Ignace Post.

Getting closer to the toll booths.

Bridge Fares.

Mackinac Island in the distance.  Boat sitting on the breakwall for maintenance.

Just a few more minutes.

Front entrance to the Michigan State Police, St. Ignace Post.

Yayyyyyy, I'm back in da U.P. with da Yoopers, eh!!

Castle Rock offers quite the view.  I don't go up there anymore, I'm too afraid that old rock formation may crumble.

Good morning to ya, Oubones.  Hope you and yours are well  :thumleft:

Pics of my Italian bird coming up soon.

Yes, they charge bikes the same amount as a car, why, I have no idea.  Seems as though it would be 1/2 price from a car.

I'm a fairly stout man, just my luck that old rock would topple over when I'm on it!!
