They have beautiful wooden walkways along the beach. Think the panels are there to protect these. Must look awesome in summer.

Two things are blatant from theses photos...

1. The cleanliness of public spaces - absolutely NO LITTER.
Pride in one's environment is irreplaceable.

2. The durability and excellent workmanship of the buildings.
They build with quality materials and workmanship, mixed with pride in their work.
Make it once, make it well and maintain it regularly - it will last hundreds of years.

Agreed. Strange mix of Dutch and French with a touch of German. Love the place.

If Belgium needed people, I would think that Zuid-Afrikaners would be a good choice for immigrants.

Much nicer than Brussels. Also, the centre of the beer world. Good for a university town.

I see lots of muslims in Brussels. Have Polish people in my apartment building. Guess they have their share of immigrants.

That’s exactly why I was born there, my folks were students. Both Parents from Brussels and studying in Louvain.

Was in Louvain a few months ago as I was working for F1 at Spa. Stayed in a lil town called Oupen which used to be part of Germany. Beautiful place too. On the way back to airport I spent an afternoon in Louvain....I love the architecture of Europe.
