My son’s 525 has been standing for quite a few weeks now and yesterday, I took it to go check a pivot. The engine was always a bit noisy in the top end, but within reason. Yesterday, however, it made a lot of noise, almost if something was loose on the inside. I couldn’t decide whether it was the valves, or the timing chain.

We had it serviced recently and although the shop confirmed that the engina was all good, they did advise me that the timing chain needs to be replaced on the next service.
I’ve read that the OEM timing chain tensioners fail over time and replacing it with the spring loaded part from Dirt Tricks seem to be the common solution.

Anyone have any other ideas? It bothers me that it was fine, but isn’t anymore after standing a bit.
