What yo do is input your start and end destinations or upload a route file and, if street view data is available, your route is played back as a video.
What will you use it for? Well I guess you can use it to check out a route to an address nearby to see landmarks and stuff along the way, or check out you favorite mountain pass or what ever. I think if, like me, you have no navigation equipment on your bike you'd be better off after watching the route video a few times before getting lost. Unless you that is part of the plan.
I just used it to look at the road condition of a route that I plan on taking and not really in the mood to have to constantly click the forward arrow in google maps street view.
